And That's Just The Way It Is

Facebook is turning out to be quite an interesting animal to me.  And the reason I say this is because I am finding on the site that people are truly just people.  No one is black.  No one is white.  No one is young.  No one is old.  No one is rich.  No one is poor.  People are simply what they are:  people.  I have "friended" people on the site who are old enough to be my PARENTS and young enough to be my CHILDREN.  And I talk to BOTH generations just the same.  Talking online and not actually looking at the person as you talk makes the person simply a person.  On Facebook I truly don't see age or religion or sexual preference or socio-economic background.  I just see the essence of the person through the words he/she types to me.  And you know what?  I wish it was this way in everyday life.  Each of us can learn from the other--regardless our age or other, meaningless differences.  'Cause truth be told, we're all ALIKE anyway.  At least, we are when it comes to what matters MOST in a human being's life.  Treat the next man/woman like he/she is SPECIAL and LOVE is all you get in return.  Eventually.  'Cause the wise man knows that eventually EVERYBODY responds to love.  Everybody!  So, MR. SHAWN ONYECHI, although you're young enough to be my son, I consider it an HONOR and a PLEASURE to be your Facebook friend.  And I give gratitude to GOD and HIS UNIVERSE for allowing me to recognize and embrace that AGE AIN'T NOTHIN' BUT A NUMBER

"The glory of young men is their strength, gray hair the splendor of the old." Proverbs 20:29

It's The Little Things

Some people need diamonds to be happy.  Some people need expensive, foreign cars.  Some need 40,000 sq ft houses.  I guarantee you just sittin' at home, RE-watchin' a particular set of DVDs I own, makes me equally as happy.  Yes, Lady O, you have that effect on me!  Haaa!

Lights, Camera, Action!

Come 9:30 AM tomorrow morning I know what I'll be doin'.  I'm anxious. And I'm nervous.  And I'm determined to just be ME.  Who else better to be?

Another One!

All right, I'm up at bat again tomorrow for yet another tv hosting gig!  I'm gonna bag one before year end.  Momentum, talent and most importantly, PERSISTENCE, are on my side.  I WILL live my life doin' what I LOVE to do:  TALK on TV as CAM Jr.  Just watch me!

Meaningless

per·fec·tion /pərˈfɛkʃən/ Show Spelled[per-fek-shuhn] Show IPA
–noun
1.)  the state or quality of being or becoming perfect.
2.)  the highest degree of proficiency, skill, or excellence, as in some art.
3.)  a perfect embodiment or example of something.
4.)  a quality, trait, or feature of the highest degree of excellence.
5.)  the highest or most nearly perfect degree of a quality or trait.
6.)  the act or fact of perfecting.

WHEN will this word be taken OUT of the dictionary altogether? In the REAL WORLD it has NO MEANING!  None whatsoever!

Burning The Midnight Oil

I don't know HOW I lived without it before I reached my 30's.  How did my mother and father live without it?  Next to Pizza Hut's pan pizza and frozen margaritas, this is one thing I'd NEVER wanna live without!!!  Never!

Apathy

Late last night, or actually, very early this morning, my upstairs neighbors were fighting.  Again.  She kicked him out.  Again.  And he's back.  Again.  Although I heard the chick crying last night as she screamed for the dude to leave, I didn't bother calling the police as I've done once before.  Instead, I continued working on my book.  Truth be told, I'm sooooo over the two of their antics that one of them will probably be carried away from here in a body bag and the only response that would evoke from me is that I hope they don't spill any blood on MY steps!

Pro-Choice!

I'm Pro-Choice!  Always have been.  Always will be.  Yep, I'm all for choosing to live MY best life!  I'm all for choosing to live my life OPENLY!  And HONESTLY!  And JOYOUSLY!  Again, I proclaim I'm Pro-Choice!  I choose ME over YOU!  And YOU!  And YOU!  And...

Like Riding A Bicycle

It's been a minute since I've done it.  I hope I haven't forgotten how.  Nah, I don't think it's one of those things that "what you don't use, you lose."  I bet I can still do it.  I bet I'm still damn good at doin' it.  I bet.  But we'll see.  We'll see.

I Hope & Pray

Just returned from a workout in the park.  I so enjoy walking around the park and doin' my calisthenics routine!  After I was done, I simply plopped down onto the grass and prayed.  I feel at one with nature and the world when I sit down and pray.  Although there are lots of other people at the park at the time, I see no one.  And I hear no one.  It's just me, God and His Universe.  I am most thankful for two things in particular:  that I awakened this morning and that I am able to use the bathroom on my own.  The latter is truly one of life's greatest gifts.  I hope & pray that I always have that gift.  I'd give up virtually everything else in my life in order to retain that, one, important gift.  No, I don't have much money, but I do feel good about being ME.  Honestly, I do.

Promised Land

The Nile River in Egypt is soooo much more than Charlton Heston in drag.  It's the sole reason my life will change from what it is NOW to what I've ALWAYS dreamed it'd be!  So, let it be written.  So, let it be done!

The Write Stuff

Yesterday afternoon I attended a beautiful shindig in honor of writer/director/producer, Don B. Welch and his latest book, In My Sister's House.  There was a terriific turnout and lots and lots of beautiful people.  Don't know how I got an invitation, but I was happy to be there nonetheless!  Pick up the book if you can!  Sounds like a winner!!!  Congrats to Don!!!

Snack Time

I'm sittin' here, snackin' on romaine lettuce and crumbled bleu cheese.  Yum!  Washin' it all down with a mixture of Ron Zacapa 23 Rum and Tangerine Lime Diet Hansen's soda!!  Nobody can tell me this ain't fine dining!  Yum, Yum, Yum!!!

Just Damn Pretty!

Sometimes, I just look at her and give GRATITUDE to GOD and HIS UNIVERSE that I possess the sense of sight.  I mean, the chick is just damn pretty for no damn good reason!!!!!!!!!!

Bein' Broke Ain't No Joke!

Just sat down and paid bills.  Lawd, have mercy!!!!  My money is as elusive as trustworthy politicians!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Soul Brotha Survivor

Oh well, my fave Survivor contestant, JAMES CLEMENT, was booted from the show this week!  In three times on the show, he has never come close to winning it!  He's as strong as a bull (producers say, the strongest in the show's history), but has been booted from the past, two seasons for ailments (first time, a finger; this time, a knee).  Interestingly enough, though, is that castmate, AMANDA KIMMEL, has appeared with him on all three seasons he's been on and ALWAYS voted him out!!  Don't be fooled by a pretty smile and boobs!!!!  Haaa!

WEAKling!!!!

Um, the battle I just waged within myself to restrain myself from ordering a chicken, pan pizza from Pizza Hut...well...I LOST!!!!!!  Just got off the phone and am off to pick it up PRONTO!!!

The Greatest

Last night's catering gig with Chef Tom Symon was simply tray pass all night.  And, you know what?  I'm glad it was.  The event was for the Sundance hit, The Greatest, starring Pierce Brosnan, Susan Sarandon and Carey Mulligan.  Judging from the trailer, it looks like the kind of film I'd like!  I just might have to see it!  I sure would like to see the exact same kind of film, starring black people.  Honestly, I would.  If I never see another, black "gangsta" or "drug peddler" or "poor athlete who's saved by a white person," I'd be just fine with that!!!  But, Sandra Bullock, in no way, shape, form or fashion do I begrudge you your Oscar!  Haaa!

Four-Legged Friends

Some, recent study concluded that single people die quicker than people who live with others in the same household.  For all intents and purposes I've been a single person for most of my adult life.  Of late I've been itchin' to get a dog or two.  I realize that human beings weren't designed to live alone.  And by alone I mean in a household with no one else.  I suspect that's why there are soooo many "crazy cat ladies."  Nobody wants to be alone.  Nobody.  Even if your only interaction with "others" is with others of the four-legged variety, at least you're not interacting with only yourself!  As for me, I can't see myself  interacting with a half dozen or more four-legged creatures only.  And mainly because I just wouldn't be able to tolerate the clean-up and SMELL!

Intervention!

It's taking every ounce of strength I've got to restrain myself from ordering a large, chicken or pepporoni, pan pizza from Pizza Hut!  Honestly, I'm thisclose to pickin' up the phone!  Thisclose!!!!

An Eye For An Eye

I was just sittin' here typin' when my left eye felt itchy, so I rubbed it.  Afterwards, I couldn't see clearly out of the eye.  I went to the bathroom to simply remove my contact lenses altogether, but when I went to remove the left contact, it wasn't there!  WTF!!  Where'd it go, I wondered.  I retraced my steps and looked on the floor, thinkin' it must've fallen out.  Well, after a few moments, I did indeed find it on the floor next to the computer chair.  Nothin' like that has ever happened to me.  I mean, I rubbed that same eye once before and the contact got lodged under the eyelid (can we say, PAINFUL?)!  Anyway, I managed to salvage the darn thing and it's now soaking in the "no rub" (can we say, IRONY?) disenfectant solution!  I tell you, if I wasn't afraid of Lasik surgery, I'd do away with contacts in a heartbeat!  And in a New York minute!  Haaa!

Word To The Wise

My friend, Brian Durkin, has created his own blog--Taking The Last Shot--and I must admit that it's filled with words of encouragement and common sensical wisdom.  I'm so happy for him that he's found this avenue to voice his concerns and share his vast knowledge with whomever is lucky enough to stumble upon his writings.  He is truly a gentleman and a scholar.  And I, like so many others, am extremely happy to know him.  His blog is HERE.

I'm Baaaaaaaaack!

Now that it's gettin' warmer and warmer in sunny, southern California I made my first appearance back at the local park so I can workout!  Yes, it's true, when it's chilly or cold, I stay home and DON'T do much workin' out.  I like the sun to beam down on me while I'm workin' out.  And I don't like wearin' a shirt while I'm doin' it, so I hibernate in the winter and reemerge in the spring and summer!!!  By July 4th, I'm gonna be lookin' HOTTER THAN THE FOURTH OF JULY!!!!!!!!!!  Haaa!

Tonight's The Night

I feel it deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep down in my bones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE:  I didn't win!  Didn't even come close!  I'll get 'em next time!

It's Worth It!

I'm hoppin' into the shower, doin' some writing on my future NY Times Bestseller, then hittin' the SUNSHINE!!  Life's too short to sit at a desk all day!  So, I'm DETERMINED to...

Willze Illzare Plizzayin' Dizzouble Dizzutch!

Workin' with Chef Tom Symon tonight.  Takin' a train to the gig, then takin' a bus home.  But not just any bus.  I'm takin' the DOUBLE DUTCH BUS!  Ho!

Show Time!

Okay, it's way past time for me to begin uploading my one-on-one interviews with REAL people onto my YouTube channel.  At first, they were supposed to be filmed by the young kid who just moved out of my spot, but now, I'm gonna need a new DP.  Where there's a will, there's a way; so, YouTube, here I come!!!

I'm Safe!

When the storms of life are raging, God's gonna hide me!  God's gonna hide me!  He's gonna hide me!  He shall hide me safe in His arms.

Round And Round You're Turnin' Me...

I want a new life.  I need a new life.  The life I was BORN to live.  Gotta turn THIS life UPSIDE DOWN to get it, though.  So, let it be written.  So, let it be done.

So Long...

The last of the young kids who moved in back in October is moving out in several hours.  As is usually the case, our relationship at his exit isn't nearly as cool as it was when he arrived.  He has a job now, so perhaps his next landlord will get paid.  Whatever his new circumstances, I wish him well.  Just happy to be wishin' it while he's livin' somewhere else.  Interesting to me how people come and go in our lives.  And, you know what?  I wouldn't have it any other way.

And They Call It...

I want one sooooooooooooooooo badly.  Okay, maybe FOUR!!!! :)

Remy, My Dear...

It's 12:24 AM and I'm sittin' here, typin' and sippin' a glass of Remy Martin mixed with Black Cherry Diet Hansen's Soda.  What!!!!!!!!!!!!!
