Goodbye, Arnold

Just a couple hours ago, actor, GARY COLEMAN, died.  His death truly makes me think of my own mortality in that I remember him as a boy when I was a boy.  Heck, we've grown up together, of sorts.  The first time I saw him was on The Jeffersons.  I couldn't tell if he was a kid or a "little person" adult.  Turns out he was a kid, but an exceptionally precocious one.  He then went on to Guest Star on a number of series until he became the star of his own series:  DIFF'RENT STROKES.  All the child stars on that show were plagued with emotional issues.  Dana Plato eventually committed suicide.  Todd Bridges was molested by his p.r. rep.  And Gary was robbed of all his money by his PARENTS!  His adult life has been challenging for him on every level:  professional and personal.  Well, his worries are gone now.  I hope & pray he is lifted up to Heaven where he can be treated like the incredibly entertaining person he was.  I loved him when I was a kid.  Just loved him.  I wish he loved himself as well.

My Summer Jam 2010

Every summer it seems like I find a song that I am obsessed with.  And this summer is no different.  I am loving Katy Perry's new song, CALIFORNIA GURLS.  I can't stop listenin' to it.  It's fun!  And light!  And rhythmic!  And damn catchy!!!!  Makes me wanna dance my butt off!!!  Love it!!!!

How Low Can You Go?

Since we live in a world filled with fame junkies, it's no big surprise these days to discover that many people will do just about anything to get some recognition.  For local recognition, they'll kill their mother.  For national--their mother, father and dog.  For global--an entire school.  They'll sleep with anybody and videotape themselves doin' all sorts of other outlandish things.  In my 46 yrs of life, what I know for sure is that, if one wants to live a glorious, drama-free, envy-free life, he is best to live his life UNDER THE RADAR!  'Cause when one draws or seeks attention, he also draws a world of HEARTACHE to his doorstep, too!  NO THANKS!  How can I work as a tv  host and live under the radar?  I'll book the tv hosting gig first, then I'll figure it out!

Mary Jane

While at the park today, a Latino cliche walked over to the workout area where I was and brought his one-yr-old, female pit bull with him.  He told me her name is, Mary Jane.  She was very obedient and friendly.  I pet her for a brief moment and let her jump up on me.  I'm sure many people will take a look at her and be scared crapless since that breed instills such fear in folks.  My nephew, Lyle, had a beautiful, female, blue pit, too, but she ran away.  Truth be told, he wasn't treating her as well as he should have anyway, so I  hope she was found by a new owner who truly treats her great.  Anyway, when I buy a place, I might have to give some serious thought to owning a pit. 

Not A Good Look

I don't care WHAT a person looks like in actuality!  Having an EMPTY purse/wallet/pocket makes a person look AWFUL!!!  Plain AWFUL!  Makes him FEEL awful, too!!!  And, truth be told, I'm SICK & TIRED of lookin' & feelin' AWFUL these days!  ENOUGH ALREADY!

When I Think Of Home...

As I prepare to eat my dinner (kidney beans, broccoli stalk & sardines) all I can think about is what I'd RATHER be eating!  No, what I'd rather be eating isn't good for me by any stretch of the imagination.  But it sure TASTES good to me.  This weekend is Memorial Day Weekend and, if I were back at home in Indiana, I'd be attending a cookout at somebody's house.  And loving every, single morsel presented to me!  Luckily, I've still got my memories!!  :)

I Say...I Say

Went to the park today to rehearse the material for the audition I'm filming this Sunday.  I have to know my lines inside and out so that I can play around with them and do whatever I want with them.  It's been a minute since I've had to memorize lines.  And, if the previous auditions I've had this year are any indication, it's IMPERATIVE that I rehearse, rehearse, rehearse!!  I CANNOT f*ck this up, 'cause I'm only gettin' ONE chance to film the darn thing.  What did Eminem say?

I'd Do It For You

Earlier today I asked a friend to film me for something I'm auditioning for.  He told me that he'd do it, but that I had to nail it in one take.  What he didn't say was that he didn't want to mess around with editing the piece after it was filmed like he did the first time he filmed something for me.  And, I know that what isn't said is the real story in every story.  Well, I'll rehearse my butt off 'til I have my copy memorized down pat.  Then, I'll go to his place, film it in one take and leave there almost as quickly as I arrived.  -- I truly hate asking people for anything.  And I mean, anything!  I always think to myself that I've been and still am the type of fella who would do most anything to make my friends' lives easier.  And I'll continue being that kind of guy because, truth be told, I want to be treated precisely the way I treat others.  And, if I gotta show 'em how to treat me, so be it.

Restless In Los Angeles

At this very moment, I feel like I just wanna RUN AWAY!  Or FLY AWAY!!  Just GET AWAY!  My tenure here in my apartment has run its course.  My tenure in the way I'm living my life has run its course, too!  I'm RESTLESS!  I wanna pick up and GO!  Dear GOD, please, please, please steer me into the direction you want my life to go, so I can GO there!  Heck, perhaps I'm ALREADY headin' into that direction.  I've gotta be still.  And listen. 

What's Up, Sistah?

I received an e-mail from my younger sister today, tellin' me that an older sister is a little perturbed with me since I haven't called her in ages.  Well, as soon as I read the e-mail, I picked up the phone and called, "Sister Perturbed!" And, as always, we laughed and talked about all sorts of things.  What I enjoyed most, though, was hearing about a Speech class she had recently taken.  Turns out she's feeling restless at home, so she has decided to enroll in some college classes.  This Speech class seems to have really hit the spot!  In it, she wrote two papers describing who she is and why she is the person she is.  She learned through her writing that she is controlling.  No sh*t, Sherlock!  She told me she's also learned to live and let others live as they choose.  Well, well, well.  If she sticks to that train of thought, looks like her younger brother might be callin' her a lot more!  Haa!

Open House = Open Wallet


Yeah, I must be gettin' old 'cause today is the FIRST day I've ever heard of somethin' called an "Open House" for a kid graduating high school.  I mean, back when I was in high school (early 80's), NOBODY had a friggin' Open House.  And, if they did, I never heard about it.  My younger brother and sister told me earlier today that the purpose of the event is to collect gifts and/or money.  Plain and simple.  Well, I've received three invitations from the parents of graduating, high school seniors.  Two of the kids I know.  The other, I don't.  I bought congratulations cards for them, but I'm sure they'd appreciate some loot inside the cards.  I'm gonna have to check the winning, lottery numbers tonight to see if perhaps I won something so I can put that something into these cards!!!!  I tell u, beggin' from Peter to pay Paul ain't cute no mo'.  It just ain't cute!

Five-Second Rule My Black *ss!

I don't care if it fell onto the floor and remained there for five MINUTES!  If I see it and it looks this damn moist, it's MINE!!!!!!!!!!  ALL MINE!!!!

Grand Finale

Today's episode of OPRAH was interior designer, Nate Berkus's, last show before he begins his own talk show.  Produced by Lady O', of course.  I've always enjoyed his work and deem him exceedingly talented.  See, one can only excel at that which he loves.  I'm SUPPOSED to talk for a LIVING on my own talk show.  And, dang it, I shall!  Right, God?  Right???  :)

The Meaning Of...

For me, PROSPERITY means earning a terrific living doing what I love and having someone(s) to share all my good fortune with!  I'm searching for it.  I'm open to it.  I'm gonna get it.  Watch me!

Winter Flashback

Oh, how I remember winter days like this in Indianapolis.  My street wasn't as wide as these, but it sure got as snow-covered.  And, it was left to my younger brother and me to shovel the walk and every other part of our property.  The girls in my house didn't have to lift a finger.  I love lookin' at this kind of winter scene in photos and on television.  However, I don't wanna live anywhere near it!  Thus, I'm now living in Cali.  I must admit, though, I do think snow-covered cars, streets, houses, walks, etc. are beautiful when they're untouched.  Simply beautiful.

What Matters Most?

I can't love ANYBODY until I love MYSELF.  And because I love loving others so much, I must be lovin' some ME somethin' fierce!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Haa!

Practice What You Preach

I do!  And I always shall!!! -- My life is in dire need of professional fulfillment.  From that, monetary fulfillment will derive.  I have NO DOUBT!  What I choose to do is push onward!  And upward!  Until I can't.  No ands, ifs or buts about it!!!!!!!!!!

OPRAH wants ME!

OPRAH is searching for a talk show host to give a show to on her new network.  All I have to do is upload a three-minute video telling her why I should be that host.  And you know what?  I'm gonna do just that!!!  I've been bound and determined to do the tv hosting thing this year and what better outlet than OPRAH's new network.  Okay, so I've gotta figure out precisely what I'm gonna say on my video, then get Ryan to film it for me.  He's gonna be so tired of filming me, but heck, he'll benefit from it when I'm booked!  I've got work to do!!!

It Is What It Is...I Am Who I Am!

Sweet Sweet 15!!!!!

My Godson is now 15 yrs old!  Fifteen!!  I can't believe it!  I remember when he was just a lil' fetus, growing inside his mommy's belly!  Then, I remember when he was a little boy with hair practically past his shoulders!  Now, he's 15 yrs old and TALLER than his mother AND his older brother!  Before I know it, he'll be a college graduate and probably starting a family of his own shortly thereafter.  I wish him the very best life has to offer.  He deserves it!  Happy Birthday, Jordan!  "Uncle Charles" loves you!  Always has.  Always will!!!!!

Sunday, Bloody Sunday!

After I wolf down some oatmeal and turkey bacon here at home, I'm takin' my heinie over to my fave spot, THE ABBEY, for Bloody Marys!!!  And I'm gonna drink at least two of 'em!  Just like the chick in the pic above, I just love 'em!  The moment I was introduced to 'em at a catering event I fell in love!  The spicier, the better!  So, I'm gonna fill my tummy with as much oatmeal as possible, then I'm drinkin'!  Figure I gotta have somethin' to absorb all the alcohol!!  Ooh wee, I can't wait to get my first Bloody Mary!!!!!  Yum!

Amazing G(RACE)

One of my friends is obsessed with the show, The Amazing Race.  He suggested over lunch the other day that he and I audition to be contestants on the show.  I've never watched it.  I mean, I'm sure I've seen a snippet or two of the show, but have never really watched an episode.  I'm gonna have to look into his suggestion 'cause, from what I've read, the show seems to be a favorite of many!

Nupe Swag

Okay, so one of my most fave brothas is a Nupe. That means, he's in the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. Anyway, I just came across a video on YouTube about Nupes that's damn creative and fun! I have to hand it to these cats. They did the damn thing!!!

Mind Over Matter

Intellectually, I know for sure that race, creed and color mean absolutely NOTHING in the grand scheme of things.  NOTHING!  However, I still find that I am a little surprised when I find out a person of one race/creed/color is partnered with someone who isn't of the same race, etc.  I don't think it's a bad thing.  I don't think it's a good thing.  I just think it is what it is.  And I don't know why it still surprises me.  I truly don't.

One Man's Trash...

Awakened at 7:15 AM this morning to hustle on over to a friend's place to help him and his wife set up for their yard sale.  Last night, I went over to their place to help them select stuff to sell.  They have tons more stuff to get rid of, but they're in denial about that fact at the moment.  So, I was  happy they agreed to get rid of whatever they're gettin' rid of.  By the time I left them this afternoon, they had already made $550.00.  Not too shabby if I say so myself!  Last night, when I looked in their closets and attic, I saw soooo much crap.  I mean, stuff they haven't worn nor seen in ages!  I don't like clutter.  Not at all.  If I don't use it, it's gotta go!!! -- I'll catch up with 'em later to see what their final dollar amount was!

12 Steps

Hi, my name is, Cam Montgomery, Jr., and I am a FENCESholic.  I cannot get this play off my mind.  I am re-reading it again for the umpteenth time!!  I want sooooo desperately to get to NYC before July 11th to see Denzel and Viola Davis tear the roof off the theater!!!  FENCES is my all-time, most favorite stage production!  Of ALL-TIME I tell you!  Where there's a will, there's a way.  So, GOD and your UNIVERSE, please, please, please make it so that I can see this show!  Please!!!

Love Don't Live Here Anymore

Last night I worked a gig, and afterward, one of my co-workers gave me a lift home.  When we arrived by my place, he literally pulled over to the side of the road, put on his hazard lights, and proceeded to fill me in on all his marital woes.  The conversation was truly enlightening.  It was yet another example to me that what goes on behind closed doors is anybody's guess.  He has slept in a different room from his wife for the past three years.  And neither has had a formal discussion about it.  They haven't had sex together in as many years either.  Or, perhaps once, to his recollection.  I remember goin' through a similar situation with an ex.  My co-worker and I discussed how others expect us to live the lives they want us to live.  His brother is the one who tells him to do this and that.  I have a sister who used to do that with me until, quite frankly, our communication all but dissipated.  Life is short.  I see and feel this fact more and more each day.  And, since this is the case, I make conscious choices to spend my time with people who accept me as I am.  Flaws and all.  -- I wish the best for my co-worker and for myself.  We are good people.  We are loving people.  And, at the moment, we are people who are aching for more personal happiness.  My mama used to say that just because you're alive, doesn't mean you're LIVING.  And, dang it, I'm too intelligent and kind and talented NOT to be living the BEST life I can live.  I've got work to do.  And a book to write to change everything!!!!  

Slowly But Surely

Today hasn't started off so swimmingly for my computer.  First, I awakened and it had power.  I went to the kitchen, returned, and there was no power.  Now that the power has returned, the darn thing is moving at a snail's pace.  Whatever.  I'm headin' outdoors into the brilliant sunshine to run a banking errand and perhaps do a lil' exercise.  This computer isn't gonna decide whether or not I enjoy this glorious day I've been given!!!!  Not a chance!

Don't Stop Disbelievin'!

When it comes to theater and film, I prefer contemporary, realistic projects.  Over the top can be fun for a few minutes, but only for a few minutes.  Truth be told, I am just not a big fan of having to suspend tons of disbelief when I'm watching a theatrical work.  This said, I have very little usage these days for ABC's Brothers & Sisters.  The show is just too, too, too many things now.  Thus, I no longer watch it.  I truly suspect this upcoming season will be its last.  This past season was mine.
