Terrell Carter...WOW!!!!!
Terrell Carter
I have always appreciated the vocal styling of TERRELL CARTER. I mean, the man sings like a masculine bird (reminiscent of Teddy Pendergrass) and looks like a SUPERHERO (reminiscent of Superman in Man Of Steel)! But I've gotta admit, until I heard his rendition of Whitney Houston's I Look To You, I never really saw him as interesting or talented a vocalist as say, Luther Vandross. But, man, oh man, his take on this Whitney tune has made a believer out of me!!! He sang that song with a control and self-restraint that I've never heard from him. No over-the-top vocal gymnastics where every word is twelve syllables; just straight out singing with true, palpable feeling. I LOVED it! Heck, I LOVE it---present tense!!!
Congratulations, Mr. Carter. I hope & pray the world is soon introduced to your vocal artistry. And I hope & pray singing songs with this kind of technical and emotional balance is what your supporters can look forward to from henceforward. What a talent!!!
God bless him! If you love what you hear, tell him on Twitter!

Little Black Boy Wonder
Omari Hardwick
Actor, OMARI HARDWICK, has written a thought-provoking poem, LITTLE BLACK BOY WONDER, about slain teenager, Trayvon Martin, and has rounded up several of his actor friends to read it with him. The tone is somewhat somber but I also hear an air of optimism.
Although I think Trayvon's murder was senseless, I still say all those who are rallying nationwide around this travesty might wanna take a look at what's going on in Chicago, too. I mean, it appears that that city is in woeful need of the "We must do something" mantra held by all the Trayvon marchers! 'Cause "Little Black Boy (and Girl) Wonders" are being wiped out in that city every, single weekend!

Here Goes Somethin'!
Enough with the bull crap! I'm ready to join the folks who look forward to each and every day! The folks who go out to brunch on weekends with friends and truly enjoy themselves. The folks who want to squeeze more hours into the day so they can keep doing what they're doing. The folks for whom sleep is an annoyance instead of a reprieve. I wanna see what it's like to live as they live. For once in my life. Okay, maybe the second or third time in my life. Except, this time, I wanna experience it on a more regular basis.
All the above can be mine as long as I plan my work and work my plan. Period.
First step, here I come. I CAN make this life change. I DO possess the FAITH.

We Need You Now
As I read my Facebook news feed each day, I read more and more distress from people. Distress from racial relations in the world. Distress from sexual preference relations in the world. Just distress upon distress. I hope and pray that human beings can somehow, some way, embrace self-love and compassion. Because those two commodities appear to be the most difficult to obtain. However, they're the two, most important ingredients to living one's best life.
My mother used to say that a closed mouth doesn't get fed. Well, I'm opening my mouth. We need help. God's help.
Amen.

Not Guilty
George Zimmerman was found NOT GUILTY in the murder of Trayvon Martin. Many black folks on Facebook voiced their outrage. I'm sure they did the same on Twitter and every other social network. But, I'm not surprised. And I'm not surprised for one, simple fact:
The American judicial system CANNOT fail those it was NEVER created to PROTECT.
And so it goes. This, too, shall pass.
God rest Trayvon's soul. And also the souls of his parents and all who loved him.

The Gift Of An Ordinary Day
I stumbled across the video below on someone's Facebook page and fell in love with what I heard. So in love, I immediately went online to my local library's site and reserved the book. Since then, I've read, THE GIFT OF AN ORDINARY DAY, by Katrina Kenison, and truly enjoyed it. I don't have children, but reading her book almost made me wish I did! Well, it made me wish I had children under 6 yrs old! I wouldn't want to fight with teenagers! :)
All in all, the book is a terrific read. I highly recommend it! :)

Reading Is Fundamental
I know it's 2013 and things have changed since the days of my youth. So, in time, I'm sure I'll get used to e-readers like Amazon's Kindle. However, until that time comes, when I'm at home reading a good book, I'd like to do so in the same way this lady is doing it. Holding a REAL book in my hands. Of course, she's better than I am, 'cause I'd have an ice cold cocktail sitting really close by as I was reading!! :)
Summer Breeze
Living here in southern California, there's no reason to ever sit inside instead of enjoying the glorious sunshine! Yesterday, I sat inside. I can't do that today. God willing, I'm DEFINITELY going outside to LIVE and LOVE nature!
Summer breeze makes me feel fine,
Blowin' through the jasmine in my mind.
Piggyback Ride
My boy, STEFAN WILLIAMS, is a beast when it comes to sheer strength! And he's such a generous and kind guy that if he doesn't give you the shirt off his back, he'll simply give you a RIDE on his back! :)
