What About The Children?

I don't know where this photo comes from, but I do know I was a little taken aback when I first saw it.  I just know those children couldn't be any older than 1st grade.  But I suspect they are even younger---kindergarteners.  Do they understand what adults are having them do?  I highly doubt it.

I've posted the photo to my Facebook page and I have received differing sentiments about it.  Most seemed to like it.  Some did not.  Either way, I wish the best for these children, whoever and wherever they are.

We've gotta look out for our children.

They need our love more than ever today.

I am now OFFICIALLY a Contributing Writer to the phenomenal project, FRONT SEAT CHRONICLES!  Yes, there IS a God!

FSC has already produced my short film, "1st Grade Picture," and is gearing up to produce (2) more next month.  And, yes, I'm ECSTATIC!!!!!

I told Tyshawn earlier today that at this time last year NO ONE in this town really knew my talent as a writer.  But that has changed.  I can only imagine WHO will know I exist by this time NEXT year!  I'll simply keep on doin' the work and what will be, will be!  The future's not ours to see.  Que sera, sera.

Oh, how I love YouTube!  I just stumbled across this video of a comedian I had never heard of!  His name is HARI KONDABOLU.  And his humor is hella clever!!!!!!

I'll have to keep an eye and ear out for this fella!  His take on race is BRILLIANT!

Front Seat Chronicles Season 4

The producers of Front Seat Chronicles are gearing up for Season 4!!!  Yippee!  As a Contributing Writer to the project, yesterday I submitted (5) new scripts!!!  This ol' boy has been over here just a-writin'!!!!

After Creator/Director/Cameraman Allen Sowelle reviews the scripts, he'll decide which of them will actually be shot next month.  I hope he chooses ALL of 'em!  Well, I won't be greedy.  May we select as many as he believes the viewers will connect with.  But he happens to select all of them, I won't complain!!!!!!

I'm working toward entering my first script, "1st Grade Picture," into a film festival or two.  I believe Gregor is going to burn it onto a DVD for me, so I can present the DVD for exhibition purposes.  We'll see what we see!!!

He's BAAAAAAAAACK

DENZEL WELLS

Today, America's Next Top Model hotshot, DENZEL WELLS, has landed back in the USA and is now tucked safely and soundly back in TEXAS!  I talked to him for an eternity today while he awaited the departure of his plane from LAX to TX.  The kid's the best.  I'm looking soooooo forward to seeing how he presented himself on the show.  I'll have to wait 'til the summer, though!!!

I've watched the trajectory of his showbiz career go from one stepping stone to another.  And always upward.  So, I have no doubt that his appearance on ANTM will propel him forward and upward in accordance to how things have gone for him thus far.  God bless him.  And God bless all those who have been instrumental in pushing him forward.

I hope and pray he ALWAYS treats others the way he wants himself and his mother to be treated.  With KINDNESS and COMPASSION.  That is truly my ONE hope for him.

Waste Not, Want Not

I am going to submit my beloved first short film, "1st Grade Picture," to a film festival or two.  What I didn't know is there are literally HUNDREDS of film festivals in this country!  Forget about all the others abroad!  And each of these dang festivals require NONREFUNDABLE submission fees!  Of course they do!

Based upon my research, there are truly only a handful of festivals I'd even consider.  And, yes, SUNDANCE is one of 'em!!  Why not?  But I'll also submit to "lesser" festivals, too.  

What really gets me, though, is all the expense involved AFTER you've lucked up and actually finished making a film.  Paying to burn DVD copies of the film (that is, if the festival accepts DVDs) can cost you.  If DVDs aren't usable, then you have to pay to submit a DCP file.  No, I had never heard of such a file until today, either.  And those are EXPENSIVE!  And, again, there are the submission fees, which can run all the way up to $60+!

Oh, well, all I know is that I'm gonna submit to three festivals or so and see what I see!  I can see myself sitting on a stage, being interviewed about my film.  Just the way I interview others during HollyShorts Film Festival.  Will I be submitting my film for that festival?  Hmm.  Not sure yet.  Maybe.  Maybe not.  It's not on my "hit list," but one never knows.  

And, oh, HollyShorts' submission fee at the moment is $55.  Mmm hmm.

Yosemite Falls

My former co-worker from days long ago, posted this pic to her Facebook.  She and her hubby are avid campers and hikers.  So, here she is in Yosemite National Park.  In the background are the Upper and Lower Yosemite Falls.

I've never visited the park yet.  But, dangit, I'm here in CALI, so I've just GOTTA see ALL the places close by!  Gorgeous natural wonders abound in Cali and neighboring states!  God bless CALIFORNIA!  :)
