Are You Ready? Are You Ready? Tell Me, Are You Ready?

Back in June 1987, my beloved friend, Lynda Goeke, drove over to my place in Indianapolis and presented me with a new music release.  While sitting in her car, we listened to the singer sing like a bird!

My most favorite track on the album is, JUST THE LONELY TALKING AGAIN.  Miss Houston truly SANG that song within an inch of its LIFE!!!!

LIFETIME is airing a scripted film about her later in the week.  I don't have cable, so I'll have to see the film however and whenever I can see it.  I hope they do her justice.

The woman had a VOICE!!!!!

The only thing better than hearing her voice on record is hearing it LIVE!

Yum Yum Yummy

Today I enjoyed a hella great brunch at CAFE SIERRA inside the Hilton Universal City hotel.  At $45 per person, it was probably the most expensive buffet I've gone to, but I have to admit, I had a BLAST!  The buffet is said to be L.A.'s version of a Vegas buffet.

I was joined by my boy, Ronnie, and his friend, Efrem.  We drank glass after glass of champagne (mixed with a frozen fruity drink).  And we ate and ate and ate.  Well, truth be told, I didn't really eat all that much.  I always use buffets for what they are: tasting opportunities.  So, I grabbed a little plate and placed several items on it.  I don't pack the plate, 'cause if I want more, I'll simply get up and get another plate.  Watching people with plates that spill over with food is simply ridiculous!  Get what you can eat, then go back for more if you choose.

Ronnie was kind enough to pay for the meal, and I left a tip.  When it was time to drive out of the garage, I was told I'd have to pay $16!!  WTH!  The "New Yorker" in me just couldn't agree to such a price, so I haggled the parking attendant down to $12!  And I STILL think THAT was too much!  :)

I'll most assuredly go back!

Except next time, I'll WALK!  :)

It's A-Comin'

Juan Gil (left) and Charles Anteby

Earlier today I saw the final cut of my next short film, LATE NIGHT CREEP.  It's one of my contributions to the terrific Front Seat Chronicles series.

My film stars JUAN GIL and CHARLES ANTEBY.  I must say, I was pleased with the overall look of the piece.  Director/editor, ALLEN L. SOWELLE, is a true talent!!!  As usual, though, I need to watch the project a few times so I can study it like a fine-tooth comb!!  Then I'll be happy!!!!!

I'll post the film right here as soon as it's officially ready for its premiere!!!!

I'm now looking forward to the drop of my THIRD film!!!

What A Day, What A Day

Today I decided to do something different.  I decided to enjoy myself.  By myself.

I awakened, showered, brushed my teeth, then headed out to Venice Beach!

I found free parking on a street several blocks away from the beach.  I just don't like the idea of PAYING to park when I can park for free.  Doesn't matter to me that I have to walk several blocks.  I always THANK GOD I'm ABLE to walk!

Anyway, once I arrived to the park, I walked over to the outdoor workout area and proceeded to do some pull-ups and dips.  After that, I did something I've NEVER done before.

I rented a BIKE!  Yep, for the next two hours I biked from Venice Beach to Pacific Palisades.  Way back when, Scott and I used to inline skate that trail, but today, I biked.  It was indeed a workout of sorts.  I mean, more than a FEW times I felt like pulling over and catching a breather.  But I NEVER did.  Not until I got to the end of my ride.  There, I sat on a bench in front of a gorrrrrrrgeous ocean view, talked to other bicyclists and gave gratitude to God for being precisely where I was at that very moment.  I LOVED it!

After I biked back to the bike rental place, I drove to The Grove.  I figured, why not conclude the day with a delicious meal?  So, Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill was my place of choice.  I ordered half a chicken and what looked like an entire garden of broccoli!  Lol.  And I ate every, single morsel on the plate!  Well, I left behind some of the chicken's skin, but everything else I ate!

Today was truly something special.  Heck, truth be told...
