Keri Is So Very...

Last week, I was thrilled to enroll myself in a 3-day, 12-hour voice-over intensive course!!

TWELVE hours!!!!!!

SYNOPSIS
This is a 3-Day, 3-Class Voice-over Intensive Course that will focus on several key components that every voice-over performer needs to know. Keri's Music of the English Language classes have been highly coveted classes at the VO Lab and her new 3-Day Intensive is bound to expand on those successes. This course is aimed at advanced performers and will emphasize the importance of the breath and body connection to voice, balancing surrender and control in recording sessions, properly reading the room and remembering the music of language. Whether voicing commercials, video games, narration, animation, audiobooks or even acting on-camera, this series will help you set words in motion and make you a more bookable performer.

INSTRUCTOR BIO
Keri Tombazian
enjoys a broad spectrum of work built over decades as one of the top-booking women in voice-over. She is a lady of firsts: One of the first women to crack network promos. As a young artist, she was the voice of the computer on the first Mattel home video game, the first female to guest host for Casey Kasem's Amercian Top Forty, and the first Los Angeles based voice artist to sign with Atlas Talent when they debuted in LA. Keri is one of the rare voice-over artists who made the leap from radio. She spent twenty-five years tickling the ears of Southern California residents as the host of Night Grooves on 94.7 The Wave. On television, Keri’s voice is presently heard on CBS Network, NBC, and has been the branding voice of The View, Hyundai, In & Out, and Princess Cruises; as well as voicing the role of Emily Hudson in the video game ADR1FT, and a soon-to-be epic sequel game about which she is sworn to secrecy. Her work is driven by the understanding that in voice-over - it's not about your voice - it is about your ear. Keri is a builder of communities, a seeker of truth, and lives by the credo that excellent communication and a fidelity to truth is the foundation of every success.

KERI TOMBAZIAN's instruction was as direct and no-holds-barred as is humanly possible. If any of us in the room was a sensitive person, her critiques may have indeed hurt a feeling or two. I, for one, wanted to believe I would blow her away every time I stepped behind the mic; that she would simply marvel at my talent. Well, that didn't quite happen. Overall, I think she appreciates my skill, but she certainly wasted no time tearing me a new one when I needed it! No problem at all! Haaa!

After our final class, we walked out with recordings of our time behind the mic, including some of her critiques. I told her that I'm going to use the VO Lab to record the voice samples I'll use on my new reel. That lab is already turning out to be a blessing beyond blessings. By the time I'm totally acclimated to it, I'll know how to record and edit my recordings like a freakin' pro!

What the heck, you may as well hear a little snippet of what I did in the dang class! And what she had to say about it! :)
