Had never heard of this chick a day in my life 'til I just happened to stumble across her while surfing, YouTube.  But, DAMN!  Now, I readily shout to the world that Regine Velasquez is one singin' filipina!!!  WOW!  And on YouTube, quite a few filipina singers sing the heck out of former hits by the American/Canadian, power vocals triumvirate:  Whitney, Mariah & Celine!  At this point, I'm sure Regine would sing circles around both of the aforementioned American divas!
