Lena Waithe
Just watched the immeasurably talented writer/producer/actor/humanitarian Lena Waithe's interview on The Breakfast Club.
What a woman!!!!!
She is unapologetically showing young (and old), black and brown LGBTQ men and women how to live openly, courageously, confidently and proudly.
She didn't mince words with The Breakfast Club crew.
And Charlamagne Tha God didn't bombard her with his usual slick and antagonistic remarks.
How could he?
She speaks so eloquently and so passionately that all one can do is listen.
In awe.
I'll admit that I immediately jumped to the comments section of her interview to see what folks had to say.
Yes, there were a few of the requisite anti-gay posts.
But by and large, she was received with open arms.
And open hearts.
The woman is a force to be reckoned with.
What Quincy Jones once told Oprah applies to Lena, too:
"Your future's so bright, it burns my eyes."
I wish Lena Waithe continued, mind-blowing professional success.
And incredibly genuine and soul-hugging romantic bliss.
She's the real deal.
Hollywood needs her.
Young, Old, Black and Brown QUEER people need her.
Those who love her need her.
And this ol' boy needs her
To keep on doin' what she's doin'.
Amen.
