At A Snail's Pace

A friend told me today that he sold a screenplay!  A screenplay he had written in 1991!  That was EIGHTEEN yrs and countless rejections ago!  Did he sell the screenplay because he is supremely talented?  Uh, hard to say since all assessments of talent are subjective.  But what is DEFINITIVE is that he sold this screenplay due to PERSISTENCE.  If you know nothing else, please know THIS:

"Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence.  Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.  Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.  Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts.  Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.  The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race."
